8:01 AM, Port Townsend, WA

On the road with Sara, heading out on the first day of a road trip down the northwest coast. Just spent a beautiful morning walking the streets and boardwalks of Port Townsend. We arrived just as the sun was peaking over the clouds, painting the sky and turning it from a soft lavender to a burning orange. We were the only ones on the streets of downtown when we arrived, and we spent a few minutes watching the sun bathe the water and town in warm morning light - the same light that turned Sara's eyes into soft pools of amber. The lapping of the waves seemed to fill the quiet morning, enveloping the world in its steady, soothing rhythm. The harsh calls of seagulls and the startling honks of geese broke through the serenity of the morning, shaking off the quiet solitude as they swooped and glided through the sun-splashed sky.
